Knowing the facts is crucial in todays world.  Kids have not changed but the substances available to them has, drastically.  Alcohol and marijuana have increased in potency in the last 25 years, youth sustance use has created new generations of addiction.  Adolescent brains can not handle the potency of these new drugs.  Family genetics and frequency of use has increased the risk for long term addiction.  The face of addiction has changed, it is no longer just the adult.  Knowing the facts and staying involved can be the difference between a life of health happinees and success, versus a life handcuffed to a substance that can litterally control your every choice or even death.  There is no cure for addiction, there is only recovery and recovery is hard.  The adolescent brain does not respond well to recovery, intervention is needed.
